Bapalon
A downloadable Virtual Museum for Windows
Bapalon is a SOUP-like room creation tool inspired by the obscure Japanese art-game SOUP, created by dong yarhalla.
With it you can create your own small walkable spaces that link together to showcase different art, atmospheres, and music. Think of it as a digital museum creation tool.
It is designed to be as easy to use as possible so that even those with no gamedev or programming experience can create rooms with it. It's as easy as placing image and audio files into a folder and editing a tiny text file. All you need to bring is your own creativity and curiosity.

I noticed a maybe unintended effect: when one of my rooms with a LAYER is followed by one without, it retains the LAYER from the previous room. Is there a way to force it to omit the layer (there's no LAYER.png in the room folder)
I have never made a game, but this makes me want to try. Thank you for making this!
i want to try this but im a little confused, do i just replace the images for each png in a rooms folder to change it? '~'
so many possibilities in a tiny package. instant-ramen for the SOUP heads out there, just in time for the holiday cold
Kira making a SOUP like game !
oh boy i love soup
I haven't looked into it yet but will you have a place for people to upload maps or whatever they are called so we can explore or review them?
It's a fun idea and one that we wish we had the time and money to implement, but unfortunately due to the nature of how ROOMS are made (raw uncompressed files in a nested folder system) file sizes get very large very fast and storage quickly becomes an issue. Something like SOUP ROOMS is well over 500 MB, for example. Hosting potentially thousands of ROOMS would be prohibitively expensive and not something our (very) small team has the means to do. We wish we could though!
It's probably not the most "fun" solution, but we do recommend and encourage others to upload their SOUP-like games to Itch.io like we did. We've also been keeping a personal list of SOUP-like games that pop up here on Itch.io and recommend checking them out if you're interested in the microgenre and its history.
Sorry if this wasn't the answer you were hoping for. We hope you still have fun exploring and making ROOMS!
this is so cool.
omg yayyy!!!
Oh wow, I was just looking for something like this to get nice screenshots.
